Keeping the Conversation Going: Climate Change in Lordswood
We are living through extraordinary times.
On June 23, 2026, Southampton hit 39.2°C, surpassing its prior historic June maximum of 36.5°C and blowing past the old UK June daily record previously set right here in Southampton back in June 1976 (35.6°C).
Weather patterns like this have long been predicted by climate scientists, who warn that unless we take urgent action, the situation will only get worse.
It may have been tempting in the past to put our fingers in our ears, kick the can down the road, and persuade ourselves that even if climate change is happening, it won't affect us for a long time. However, the data challenges this view directly. However unpalatable it may be, we must remember that "facts are our friends."
Continuing the Discussion
On Saturday, October 10, 2026, Living Lordswood—in association with the Lordswood Residents and Community Association (LRCA)—hosted two screenings of the People's Emergency Briefing, a thought-provoking 50-minute film featuring leading UK scientists and experts.
We want the powerful discussions prompted by that film to remain ongoing right here in our neighbourhood. If you would like to be part of shaping a sustainable future for our community and the planet, please register your interest by adding your name to the subscribe button!
